Certificate of Authenticity: The Legacy of the Mark

Every work that departs from the Lorenzo Caia Archive is more than a visual representation; it is a physical fragment of a larger intellectual journey. To ensure the integrity, provenance, and future value of your acquisition, each piece is accompanied by an official, multi-layered Certificate of Authenticity.

A Document of Provenance

In the realm of fine art, the certificate is the "identity card" of the work. It serves as a permanent link between my studio’s hand and your private collection. This document guarantees that the work has been produced under my direct supervision, meeting the highest archival standards.

Each certificate provides:

  • The Archival ID: A unique alphanumeric registration number linked to the Archive’s private ledger.
  • Technical Specifications: Detailed information on the ink-base and the specific museum-quality, acid-free paper used.

The Seal and the Signature

Depending on the nature of the work, the Archive applies specific marks of validation:

  1. Hand-Signed Validation: All Limited Editions and Original Works are hand-signed and numbered by me, establishing a direct connection to the artist's hand.
  2. The Blind Emboss Seal: My most prestigious works (Limited Editions and Originals) bear the physical imprint of the Archive's seal. This hand-pressed, tactile mark creates a permanent relief on the paper, a security feature that cannot be replicated digitally.

For the Collector

The Certificate of Authenticity is as vital as the artwork itself. It protects the value of your collection over time, facilitating future appraisals, insurance, or transfers of ownership.

  • Storage: I recommend keeping this document in a secure, dry location, separate from the artwork.
  • Integrity: A work separated from its original certificate loses its archival status. Ensure they remain linked in your private records.
