"Axis Mundi" - The secret of the world tree

This article is dedicated to research, studies and sketches related to the work "Axis Mundi" or axis of the world which in ancient symbology is known as "World Tree".

Due to its roots sunk into the ground and its branches rising to the sky, this natural element takes on a great variety of functions and one more than all the others makes evident the importance that the tree has always had in antiquity: that center and axis of the universe.
In fact, the tree is universally considered a symbol of the relationship that can be established between the earth and the sky. In this sense it has a central character, to the point that the World Tree is a synonym of the World Axis.
This element, precisely because of its extension both downwards and upwards, has inevitably ended up assuming a cosmological value, going to constitute the pivot of the universe that crosses heaven, earth and the underworld and which acts as a link between the cosmic zones .

Also a symbol of life in continuous evolution, always ascending towards the sky, it strongly evokes the symbolism of verticality, like Leonardo da Vinci's tree.

For this reason, there are many populations who in their own cosmology conceive the existence of a sacred tree as the axis of the world. This conception is also common in the religion and mythology of ancient European populations and beyond.
Each place or area often identifies a precise species of tree: the Oak in Gaul, the Linden in Germany, the Ash in Scandinavia, the Olive in Islam, the Birch or Larch in Siberia, etc.
The relation of this natural element to the transcendent could not be overlooked; the tree represents fertility, abundance and the cycle of nature which miraculously renews itself every year. That's why a simple plant can contain the infinity of the universe.

Obroots eius in terram demissae et eius rami ad caelum usque perveniunt, arbor universaliter symbolum habetur relationis quae inter terram et caelum stabiliri potest.

We can see three circles that divide the tree into three sections, thus constituting the division or passage between heaven, earth and the underworld (caelum, earth and post vitam). As you can see and feel, these circles are created through the law that governs the entire universe or "The Law Of The Golden Ratio". Their ratio and size is based on the calculation of the number 1.618 and starts from the largest "The Sky" to the smallest "The Underworld".

Besides you circles, we can see that the whole is circumscribed in a triangle made up of three angles calculated on the number 1.618 and that it recalls the number three as a perfect number of the Pythagorean school.
.
The secret of the world tree is hidden in these numbers, shapes and writings, but don't waste time looking for this secret. This work was not designed to make you look for a secret, but it was created to reflect the love and value you have for nature, the world and its mysteries. The secret I've been hiding will come out when you least expect it!
Enjoy the work and its meaning, frame it properly, make it yours and above all love it because every time you look at it, you will look at your values and what you believe in.
