There are hours we wish would pass quickly, and moments we would hold still if we could.
In Horologium Huygens, the weight of the pendulum, the gears and the measured lines give time a visible structure. Ink follows the architecture of a mechanism designed to keep its rhythm. Yet the hours themselves remain beyond our reach.
I began drawing this work during a period when time felt like an adversary. Studying the precision of its machinery was a way of confronting a contradiction I knew well: wanting certain moments to disappear, while wishing others would never end.
If we can measure every passing second, why does time still feel beyond our control?
Look again at the pendulum. Ink can hold its shape. It cannot hold an hour.
